Kathryn Oram qualified to compete for the United States in the Under 23 World Championships in Bulgaria in the Lightweight Women's Double category. She is one of 59 athletes selected to the 2015 Under 23 National Team. While in high school, Kathryn rowed for The Mountain Lakes Rowing Club for two years. She went on to row as a lightweight for Bucknell University. She is currently training with the Vespers Boat Club in Philadelphia.
The 2015 World Rowing Under 23 Championships are scheduled for July 22-26, 2015. The five-day competition will feature U.S. crews in 20 events including the men’s and women’s single sculls, lightweight men’s and women’s single sculls, men’s and women’s double sculls, lightweight men’s and women’s double sculls, women’s quadruple sculls, lightweight men’s and women’s quadruple sculls, men’s and women’s pair, lightweight men’s pair, men’s and women’s four, lightweight men’s four, men’s four with coxswain, and men’s and women’s eight.
The U.S. roster includes athletes from 17 states, Greece, Mexico and Italy. Of the 24 universities represented, the University of California and the University Washington tie for top representation with six athletes each. There are five athletes from the University of Virginia and four athletes each from University of Delaware, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania and Princeton University.
The U.S. won five medals at the 2014 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Varese, Italy including gold in the lightweight men’s single sculls, women’s eight and women’s four, silver in the women’s pair and bronze in the men’s eight.
